A new feature of Wikispaces will allow for the display of mathematical text. I downloaded Texaide from http://www.dessci.com/en/products/texaide/, created a simple formula in the familiar equation editor interface, selected all, copied and pasted into the page editor. Once surrounded by the Math tag, it displays properly.

There are online tools to convert Latex to image formats at http://hausheer.osola.com/latex2png , including PHP code that relies on ImageMagick (http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php).

The mathfest blog has a post about how to use external code to render Math text.

To work with Latex try installing MiKTeX (http://miktex.org/) - be sure to run the update after installing. Next install TeXnicCenter (http://www.texniccenter.org/) - the latex files are in C:\Program Files\miktex 2.6\miktex\bin. TeXnicCenter will create .ps and .pdf files from TeX. To open and convert .ps files install Ghostscript (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1897) and then Irfanview (www.irfanview.com).
